During my morning commute to work earlier this week, my muse delivered a revelation to me.
You know Peter, you’ve pulled yourself out of some pretty undesirable situations. You accomplished goals you never wanted to set. You found a power within to overcome seemingly unbeatable odds in unfavorable conditions.
My list is long, but there’s no need to share all of it here. However, I’ll give you an example. I overcame a heart attack and subsequent stroke at the age of 44. I never had a wish or set an intention or felt a burning desire to become a survivor.
And you? What hardships have you experienced that have left you on bended knees, asking for mercy?
No one asks to be an alcoholic or addicted to drugs. No one asks to be given cancer. No one asks to lose their home and a family member to a fire. No one asks to be in a car accident. No one asks to become a widow/widower. I think you get the idea.
Somehow, if you are reading this, you found your way out. Scratch that. You CREATED success. Deep within you emerged a desire – a desire to continue living. And with an unexplainable power, you pulled yourself out of dark places. And it changed you.
No, we can’t go back to the way things were. The brutal reality is we will never be the same again. The past, that is, former versions of ourselves are who we used to be, but not who we are now, or who we can become.
And I’m here to tell you, that’s okay.
Experience gives us knowledge. Applying knowledge leads to wisdom. Wisdom produces confidence. Having confidence generates power. With power, we can create successful outcomes – the likes of which we never imagined.
On this day of Thanksgiving, I ask that you please take some time to sit in quiet contemplation – by yourself. Consider your past experiences that have led you to be where you are now. Pretty tumultuous road, am I right? But you are no longer “that” person – you now have more experience, knowledge, wisdom, confidence, and power.
What will happen if you step into the power of creating success for yourself (and others) in something that you actually desire? You’ve already proven to yourself that you can accomplish goals that you initially never wanted to achieve. How hard will it be? Who knows?
I encourage you to take the first step (into your power) TODAY! I’m not asking you to proverbially run a 26-mile marathon. Just do something today that you didn’t do yesterday. Start small and easy. Build a momentum of small achievements.
For example, I wrote this blog post today because I realize that I miss writing and sharing ideas. I feel accomplished. Now, I did not write my next book today (that’s coming in 2025) but that doesn’t diminish my success for today.
Within me, and within you is a power that is imperceptible to our five senses. It’s our gut instinct or intuition or whatever you want to call it. Trust it. Use it. Honor it. Believe it.
STEP INTO YOUR POWER.
We can’t control external circumstances – the things that happen to us (or another). However, we can step into the chariot, grab the reigns of our experience, knowledge, and wisdom, and confidently steer the horses(power) that lead us to become who we want to be.
Be Kind. Be Thankful. Be Significant.
Peter
